The Black Rose

The Black Rose.
Original, Unreal,
Magical, Surreal.
Nothing else can compare.

The Black Rose.
Always deceiving,
Always grieving
Over its old, red rose self leaving.

The Black Rose.
Always weeps,
Never sleeps.
No longer red,
Practically dead.

The Red Rose.
Was so free,
Always happy,
Is now a black one,
Never to be undone.

You can easily see
The Black Rose is me.
A short little poem I wrote. This has quite a bit of personal meaning to me, but I hope that everyone who reads this interprets it in their own way and finds their own meaning.
Please comment and tell me what you think. Enjoy!
I don't own the preview image! It is from [link]

Had to read this after I saw the title. I've also written a poem called The Black Rose, which is romantic but also has a sense of sadness about it. This is really great and it flows well.

It should be in my gallery. Check the romantic folder. Oh, you might find some of my other works of interest.

you've got a really good way with rhymes - I can never manage it, so I chicken out and go for free verse instead :P

Thanks!
When I read your comment, I decided to take a look at some of your poetry. When I read it, I thought it was really good. I find that it has a lot of deep meaning, and I really loved that. It doesn't need rhyme to be great, and your work is awesome.
Keep it up!

Yes they are real.... Spain is the first country which have started to artificially cultivate them for about 4 years ago. They cannot live more than 10 days after they flourish, and no more than 4-5 hours if moved from their own place. Iīve had the chance to actually photograph one last year on a trip on a Botanical Garden from Andalusia. They are really impressive and beautiful! But they cannot sold yet. As I understood, they need a special substance for surviving and this substance is not available for the large public. Thatīs why, for now, they are only grown by specialists in Botanical Gardens all over Spain. I donīt know about other countries. But I bet they will discover soon a solution for actually sell them on the open market.

I really liked your poem. More than you can imagine, as black roses are for me the metaphor of love itself! So, you kind off touched my soul with it! :blackrose:

They're not real...it's more of a figurative thing.
